• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. Just wondering how many ideas there are out there to pick up sawdust off an RAS . I have tried various ideas over the years , but we all strive for perfection don't we ? . Is there a proper preparatory system for this ? or is it down to our own ingenuity .

The usual arrangement is usually some sort of box/hood enclosing the back of the saw and fitting round the column and the blade guard port.
The fence tends to get in the way a bit. So far I've only bothered with a flexi pipe to the guard and a manual clean-up when the overspill gets bad.
It is rather like a mitre saw - difficult to catch everything and life is too short and projects more interesting. :lol:

Yes like any scms type thing is impossible to catch all. What bob described is the best way for a radial but in my opinion, you're only going to have to clean what missed the catcher anyway so way spend time and money for it get in the way of cleaning up around it.
 
The best solution I once did was to put the whole chopsaw in an open fronted box, I then had 6" ducting. It worked really well with no overspill of saw dust. I now have a freestanding RAS which is much bigger. For this I just have a box at the back connected to ducting, works ok for crosscutting small stuff but anything over 6" the dust just gets chucked everywhere
