• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Scam alert

I can confirm by talking to another member that user Jefferyyoung has sent us both messages telling us that his mate has what we are after in the WANTED section.
Be aware and it just so happens he joined UKW in the past few days as well.
Cheers, Andy
Could be that he’s just trying to be helpful. One of you will get what you want and his friend gets a sale. And he’s discovered a new found interest in woodwork. Or am I being naive?

This is the message......

Check with @ryan7700 specializes woodwork stuff, and haven't seen him here in a while. He has a Cycle die for sale. Here is email: ########### Contact him to know if it's still available.

Happy to be proved wrong Ian but as far as I can ascertain ryan7700 ain't on here.

Andy, I had the same message save it was for a carving screw. So at least 3 of us it looks suspicious.

Coincidence with the username?

This all does beg the question as how they are allowed to send a PM when being so new to the forum?
I thought there was a minimum posting amount before getting that ability?
If not, perhaps for the safety of the members something should be introduced.
Cheers, Andy

It’s the same amount as normal posting, and he posted enough times to no longer need moderation.

It's good to see 'da management' are vigilant at keeping these PITA away most of the time before we become aware of them.

I only became aware of this one this morning via the DD post I got from 'the other place'. I came along here to see if there was a mention of it to find this post by @toolsntat 👍.

Would it help if there was a warning post about getting 'possible' scams messages pinned at the top in the "For Sale" and "Wanted" forums? Just to remind us all that such S c U m do exist. It's so easy to be *relaxed* (and off guard) here 😀

I advertised for a Dewalt 2000watt router
I was contacted in this way and was told about a machine, reputed to be used, when enquiring about price the figure given was only just under the retail price and that carriage would be extra.
I think this may be just a method of retailing!
