• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi guys

Looking to expand on kit I have currently and just wondered if anyone they recommend for secondhand reasonable tools.....that's not e....y

Thanks

If you are talking old cast iron machinery the e...y is a perfectly good way of finding sellers.
Dunno about hand tools - I don't have much use for them.

You can always use forums. Ours is a bit too small but stuff shifts on UKW so someone must be buying it.

Also worth putting a wanted post on the forums, I've sold & bought quite a few tools this way.
It's surprising what folks have that they aren't using but don't think of selling, I'm guilty of this if something's not in the way I don't tend to think about it until someone mentions they want one

Thanks guys

I have bought a few bits on UKW but just wondered if there were other recommendations...

As you know timing and money don't always coincide so Sometimes I don't know what I need until I see it at the right price  but know at some point I'd like to acquire or change up my planer thicknesser, a router table, dust extractor !,, and a number of power tools!

Cheers

Could you let us know where you are located too please - should be a box for this in settings :eusa-think: - makes it far easier for people to offer stuff if you are close and they do not have to mail it!

Steve

You could try any second hand machinery dealers, they will be dearer than ebay, but will offer machines with a warranty. They buy in stuff all the time so if they dont have what you want they will keep you in mind when somethjng comes in.

I'd go eb@y for old cast iron any day ..
Just make a search of what you are interested in .. and sit and wait for the right price :-)
For big stuff, I'd rather buy old, well made, rather than new cheap flexirubbish !

I drove 300 miles to Scotland for my Table Saw .. a 1961 Wadkin AGS10 :-) Very happy with it ..

About the same distance for the wood welder (Again from Scotland)

most other stuff I found a bit closer to home

I'm in the midlands BTW ... and travel is worth it for the right kit :-)
