• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Show us yer bench!

Laminate procured and installed with a new lift. thought i would use a rebate cutter for the rebate....until it fell on the floor

next up, some kind of vice and tracks and fence.....then i spose i need to make something :)

That's a rather nifty vise there roger, what's the make/model?
not seen one of them before

Axminster have it

https://www.axminstertools.com/axminste ... ice-107038

but they were out of stock when I needed mine and I got it from Dictum in Germany.

It's brilliant for what I've been doing. The jaws will self-centre around awkward shapes and you can undo the securing wheel underneath and rotate the whole thing. When I was assembling part of the staircase, IU'd deliberately left the final carving etc of the main wreath until it was glued and fixed to the stair handrail. I had 3m of handrail floating but supported by the top of the bandsaw. The main joint near the vice jaws where I needed to work and the other end of the wreath supported by the end of the assembly bench.

Was just gathering the pixels to say "Sounds like a patternmaker's vice" and then clicked on the link. Nifty thing, and just the ticket for your current labours, Roger.

Nice, er... work table, Craig. I'm sorry, I just can't call it a bench. I'm sure it's ideal for your needs, but it'd drive me absolutely nuts! Proper job, though. :eusa-clap: Bad luck on the router bit, btw. Are they really painting them in attractive pastel lemon these days? s'trordinary.
