Here’s my latest home made tool, all parts from the scrap bin, other than the cutter.

Ooh, do tell us a bit more. What's the cutter? Is it a spare wheel from one of those fancy marking gauges? How well does it work?

Cutter is a carbide cutter insert, I bought ten, year’s ago for turning tools that I made.

Not really used it in anger yet.
The brass was an old door hinge.

That looks fun, Jim. There are a couple of things I'd comment on. Is the long "leg" likely to mean it will chatter? And secondly, you can't really see the cutter when you're using the tool, can you? I really like the idea, though, and adjustment will be easier than with any router plane I've seen.

When I was making it, I considered the chatter might be an issue.
Altering to M8 could be on the cards if it doesn’t work.
You are right about not being able to see the cutter but it works ok if I pull towards me like a spoke shave.
Big benefit from the normal router cutter is that is cuts 360 degrees, what I had in mind from the outset was a final clean up tool.

Just a thought if you can't see the cutter anyway then the clearance hole down the centre doesn't need to be there just a recess at the bottom to house the cutter when withdrawn, that would prevent chatter and a length of suitable bore sleeving would prevent wear, or have I missed something obvious?

I have to admit it was summat I saw on t’internet somewhere.

I like that it’s really simple, you could maybe mount the brass plate right down at the bottom just above the nut on top of the cutter in a groove in the wood. Ian
