• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I joined the Forum as I was about to start building a Squaredrop ( teardrop but a different shape) since joining I have now decided I would build without using wood until I get to the kitchen. I thought it was only polite to explain as I will be asking for help when I get to the kitchen making.
A thank you to Mike G who has helped with advice along the way.
I have now started with the chassis, steel has arrived along with the wheels, tyres and suspension. A couple of photos where I am up to.
I understand this is a carpentry Forum, so wont post any more until I am at the kitchen phase.

No need to wait until the woody stuff starts. Plenty of interest around here to see the whole build I have no doubt.

You're committed now, Mike!

It's going to be fun watching two very different builds going on at the same time.

I plan to run a protection frame around the outside of the body, more for looks than protection. Bending tube that size bore is behond my capabilities. I found someone on ebay that would could do it. I sent the plan off and hoped my angles were correct. I cut all chassis steel whilst waiting for the frame to be delivered as I needed it to check the angles on the body matched the frame design. The frame arrived the order was coming in 4 parts but to be fare each side was delivered complete. It was 60mm over size so I cut turned down a piece of aluminium bar to fit the inside dia this allowed me to sleeve them together. This will be welded later on in the build. The problem I encountered was I planned to have square straight edges ( no curves) but after making the template. The square straight edges pertruded past the curves on the frame, just spoilt the overall look. I have now curved the template to match. Leaving another headache what to use on the roof that will bend around the curves. The template is now marked up. I can now start on making the chassis.
