• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I was walking past the window the other day and caught sight of some strange movement. On closer inspection, it turned out to be the tiniest spider (don't think it is an ant although SWMBO does...voices off!) moving a dead fly that absolutely dwarfed it.

What was even more amazing was that in the first six seconds the spider is secured on the underside of the sash glazing bar. In the remaining seconds, it is walking down the glazing bar with the fly firmly held.

One of these days I will remember to hold the phone the right way round when taking a video shot.

Think you (and SWMBO) are right. Still mightily impressive.

Beer? Not yet. :(

Not really. He didn't feel anything palpating my abdomen or listening to it. Current working hypothesis is excess acid although why is unknown. So he's given me a proton pump inhibitor to try for a couple of weeks. The current lead time to see the consultant that I saw for the other end is 70 days.

Gut feel says that it is excess acid and my sense is that it was triggered by a particular food combination. I had a similar reaction before to the same food combination but that time the effect was nothing like as severe as it has been this time. Things like peppermint sooth the old tum which, again, points to too much acid.

Where it gets surprising is the next stage to try and get the stomach back in balance and that is to avoid acidic foods. When you look at the list, an awful lot of things have an acidic affect on the body - most of which are my favourites such as meat, beer and wine! Surprisingly there are many things that you'd think would have an acidic effect, such as lemon, but they are classed as an alkaline food.
