• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Or at least it appears to be from an Amazon seller. senders address is @gmail which makes me suspicious.

I bought a cheap (£60) action camera with waterproof case based on reviews on and off of Amazon. Turned out it was as bad as I expected. I returned it and left a review on Amazon.

Here's the email I just received...

Hello dear customer,

I'm Neil from WOLFANG's after-sales team, sorry to bother you.

We have noticed your comments on our GA300 camera and take your feedback very seriously. You mentioned in your review that the camera quality is not up to 4K and the stabilization is not as expected. These issues must have given you a very bad experience and we really blame ourselves for that. We will definitely continue to improve our products.

Our GA300 camera supports 4K recording, but the camera's 60FPS frame rate does have interpolation due to the chip. We noticed that you have returned your camera and we understand how you feel.

We are willing to provide you with the following after-sales service:
① Provide you with a brand new and higher-end GA420 camera. The camera has higher-definition picture quality and pixels, supports true 4K recording, and has an external microphone for clearer recording quality, and is IPX8 waterproof. You only need to send us your delivery address and phone number, and we will ship it to you immediately.
② If you no longer need the camera. We can also provide you with a 30€ Amazon voucher, which you can use to buy any product you need.

Because we're still a new brand, we value your experience and feedback. If you are satisfied with our service, would you like to tell us your thoughts, modify your comments on GA300 camera and provide five-star praise? If you think this is not good, would you like to delete this comment you left for GA300 camera? We will be very grateful!

For your convenience, here is the link to the review you left for the GA300 camera:

Thank you for taking the time to read our after-sales mail. We are very sorry that it has taken so long to contact you since you purchased your camera. We blame ourselves for this to this day. We don't know whether our service can satisfy you? Would you like to accept our apology?

We look forward to hearing from you!
Neil

I was expecting a 'if you remove your review' condition to the offer. Or maybe replying to the email gets me in conversation with a scammer.

I have a good action camera that I use as a dashcam so didn't really need another - it would just be more convenient.

Should I reply for a 'free' camera?

edit just read it again and it does ask for 5 stars!

no you shouldn't.

Amazon market place communications should be done through Amazon. if it's circumventing that then Ignore it.

remember folks, if it seems to good to be true, it is.

Filed an abuse report with Amazon. I don't need the camera.

It would surely be illogical for a supplier to send such communications through the amazon system, as that would be a direct admission of abuse and easily found by the amazon bots. Hence gmail. I think the attempt to get a negative review changed was probably a genuine attempt at a form of bribery in this case. They take a risk as a supplier, but probably many people would have taken the camera.

Amazon standard reply to my report shows they are mainly interested if a security breach is involved. Feels like nothing will happen.

Maybe I should have taken the free £150 camera.

Remember this?

Amazon did absolutely nothing so I thought what is there to lose? I replied and agreed to their offer that came from an anonymous gmail. Somebody else got involved using a 162.com address whatever that is and said they were sold out of the offered camera - it will take a month or so.

I waited not expecting it to happen... but it did!

I'm now sitting here with a free camera that currently is on special offer at Amazon for £110. Still don't actually need it but as Amazon didn't care why should I? My old review is now ambiguous and 5 star so I haven't actually lied apart from the stars.

copied from wiki;

Where is @163 email from?
NetEase is the largest provider of free e-mail services in China with more than 940 million users as of 2017. In addition to 163.com, the company also runs 188.com, 126.com and more. The company also operates a news website at news.163.com along with an associated app.

Bob is right it was 163 not 162 :)

So I've had a play with the camera. Only used indoors in not great light as it was raining outside. If I'd bought it and was reviewing it - 3 or 4 stars. It's no gopro but then its 1/3rd the price (or maybe 1/4). 4k doesn't look like 4k more 1080. Image stabilisation is good though - no judder when panning and walking with it looks smooth and I wasn't trying to be steady. Think it might do OK in good daylight.
