There has been a lot of fine woodworking on here recently. Thought it time to lower the bar and post something crudely made.
Back in the summer I worked out that I'd like the oven on a 1050mm high table by putting it on trestles.
No WIP pictures but here is the finished item though I may yet paint it black. It's about storage as much as anything. It has to fold to minimal size to go in the shed. It's all made out of some left over bits of maple flooring from when I made chopping boards and some 5.5mm ply I rescued from a skip.
The flooring strips had bits missing where it had been nailed but mostly was ok. The panels at the top of the legs are all hinged together. if I'd got the hinge positions right first time the hinges might have been in line across.
When unfolded it stands up and looks a bit more table like. The screws sticking out lower down are for a shelf. Note the crudely hacked top corners that fit inside the return on the table panel.
Once the top goes on the legs are forced into position in the corners - hence the rasp work to get it to fit.
It wobbles quite a bit as it stands. When the weight of the oven is on it it still wobbles a bit but not enough to worry about.
I did reinforce the mitres on the tray corners by making a saw cut and gluing in a bit of thick oak veneer so thats almost proper woodwork.
Oh and I have changed the chop saw blade now and it cuts instead of burning its way through wood.
