• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Okay peeps, how to deal with this one...

I keep hearing what sounds like rapid and reappearing bursts of shotgun fire all round our house at varying and random times of the day.

At first I attributed this to bird scarers set up by the local farmer who has done this before but they've always been single shot affairs, not the rapid fire and sustained bursts like this.

I keep trying to find where it's coming from but when I walk outside it never happens!!

Starts again this afternoon around 16:30 and louder than normal so I walk away from my computer through the lounge and it's REALLY loud, then stops! Out of the corner of my eye eye see a big bastard black crow staring at me through the bifolds then flies off!!

Now I've noticed a lot more crows around recently than ever before, in the garden, but didn't tie the two together but we've had all our windows replaced recently...

This never used to happen so I walked around all the lower floor doors and windows to check and the bastards are pecking away at the edges of the glazing tape that can be seen between the glass and the glazing beads leaving little bits pecked out of it!

Any suggestions (sensible ones not relating to shotguns, which I've already turned over in my mind...) on why they would be doing this and more importantly, how the hell to stop them before they do some damage!!!???

I'm sorry to bring this up again, but this reminds me of Jasper Carrot, a shotgun and a swivel chair in the garden! :D

It's not about reflection, it is about the taste of the glazing tape. I've had the same thing here myself, and the window manufacturer said it was commonplace. I haven't the first idea how to stop it, though. Scaring them off a few times might do the trick, if it is only one or two birds. Corvids are fast learners.

Thanks Mike, good to know. I'll run out as soon as I hear it from now on.

There's so little tape above the bead that even what they've pecked at I don't think they can do any damage due to their beaks being so big but still annoying.

Cheers
Mark
