• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I have looked at the site on occasion but not contributed for many months, a quick look at the joke section sums it up. Had a look today and ran into a wall of intrusive advertising, won’t be trying again I think it’s time to exit completely.

Welcome Mike. You are more than welcome here and completely free to post there too. I post there from time to time as do many other members. We don't engage in forum wars as there is plenty of room out there on t'interweb!

Pull up a chair and enjoy the Haven.

It’s only a matter of going into your profile settings & opting out of adverts, simples.

Forgot about that.

They have a far more active Scroll Saw forum that I still visit.
Also LumberJocks.

I contributed almost solely to the other place (john15) for many years but this year transferred my interest to W11 and am very pleased I did - lots of good contributors I recognize which has made me very happy..

I still often have a quick look and post the very occasional comment however there is less and less on there that interests me now.
One thread that did pique my interest however was the complaint about increasingly stronger tone begging messages from admin for financial contribution and an example of one such message posted. Not something I've had but I do get the odd invite to subscribe which is immediately binned.

I never gave them any money so presumably that’s why they don’t pester me, but a quick look every now and then shows me it’s not stuffed with experts as it once was, shouldn’t have treated us all like woke 5 year olds.
Haven’t contributed for a year? and certainly won’t be doing so again.

Indeed. I pop in now and again, and occasionally add a comment, but I made a decision when I became active here, not to be active there and especially not to initiate threads. To be frank, neither forum is incredibly active with WIPS but that is partly seasonal: we hunker down in winter.

I haven't looked in there for ages, as a matter of fact, I'm far less active than I used to be on anything including WH2. Between working full-time on the Joinery and doing some other work on the side it's hard to find the time to invest in forum/online activity, I find Instagram a bit easier as it's more streamlined and I can post a quick "story" to get a bit of engagement, and I don't have to be sat at the computer.

I do have a lengthy machine restoration in progress, which realistically shouldn't have taken as long as it has for such a simple machine (coming up to 2 years at this point) and I will eventually write up a WIP here on it as I've been taking photos along the way.
