• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

...MOT'ing the buggers!

Jezzer-the-Jag has just cost me £500. He failed on emissions and the oxygen sensors had to be replaced - not cheap. Plus, the n/s tail exhaust needed replacing too - ouch!

Betty-the-Beamer just failed her test yesterday. Lots of bushes need replacing and two new rear tyres are needed as well. Don't know the cost yet, but I am feeling an 'ouch' fast approaching!

Bertha-the-Bus is due for her test in August - ooooer! :|

Oh dear, not nice and your cars are not of the cheap varieties.

We are both retired and 3 yrs ago went down from 2 to just one car.
So far it's not been a problem - only one car to wash and worry about.
And only one car depreciating [emoji4]

I share your pain.

Hector - the 2004 Discovery 2 - failed a few months back and that cost a grand. At least it's not as bad as a Discovery 3 or, worse still, a 4 as every time they go into the local small garage the bill is always in four figures apparently - too many electric/electronic gizmos.

The 1999 S2000 passed but we still decided to replace the tyres as they were ten years old, loads of tread left ( a very low mileage car) but the tyres were hardening. Not a good idea in that sort of car. On the bright side, it has now gone through the depreciation trough and for the first time in our car owning history starting to appreciate.

And the 1953 Mazda RX-8 which also failed its MOT last year and cost a grand to put right.

Trouble is that we both appreciate driving cars with a bit of ooomph. Not that we drive everywhere like maniacs, just that we appreciate this type of car. When I say 'oomph' I am not including Hector in that description as he needs a fortnights' notice before overtaking anyone. But at least I am confident that he can drive in many places where others fear to tread. Including floods 19" deep.

I think you should both stop naming you cars. :D It is far easier to kill a chicken that doesn't have a name. :D

We had a couple of friends who called their two sheep 'Freezer One' and 'Freezer Two' ...

Haha cheers chaps! Indeed :D

I have names for my tools as well.

A couple of examples - try and guess the tool (there are a couple of easy-peasy ones listed)....

Harry-the-hammer
Smoothy Sam
Billy-Block
Sheamus-the-shave (under&over)
Royster-the-router
Romeo & Juliet
Mrs Palmer and her 12 daughters
Terry-the-toff or Paulus-the-pin (sorry Terry, nothing personal chap)
Jacky Boy
Roger-the-rabbit
Trigger
Etc etc... I really must get out more.

Anyway, I've just had the quote back from the garage - ouch again!

The work including the MOT Test and VAT - £290.

Two rear tyres and alignment - approximately £150.

Total is going to be around £440.

There were a few advisories as well, including; front o/s n/s and rear o/s n/s brake pipes slighly corroded and perished. This is going to have to wait though. :|
