• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

A while back I visited my new Nephrologist (first time).
Dr’s consulting rooms usually have a pile of magazines, well thumbed, garden/home/cars/food etc.
This consulting room was a big surprise.
A table with …………….. Coffee Table Books!

Not having much time I picked up a small one called The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse.
A first look found the following:

“Is your glass half empty or half full?” Asked the mole.
“I think I’m grateful to have a glass, said the boy.”

“What do you think is the biggest waste of time?”
“Comparing yourself to others, said the mole.”

Okay, so lets read some more.
Dr was running late (what’s new for Dr’s?) and I nearly read the whole book.

Some years ago I was in the Dr's surgery waiting room trawling through the mags, severial of which were 'Oncologist Monthly' (or similar). When I eventually saw the doc and mentioned them he agreed that patients might not be too enamoured with reading about cancer. They were removed and haven't been seen since - Rob

Sometimes there are cartoon type drawings on Facebook of these characters and their thought provoking quotes 👍. I enjoy them when they come along but don't 'follow' it

We now no longer get 'reading materials' in the GP medical practice... since Covid they've never made a return. You have to take your own with you - and leave with it.

The problem in the waiting rooms that I sit in are out of date magazines which are well worn.
The National Geographic ones are interesting.

My ex-wife (the BXW) was a GP. I had a couple of spare copies of Good Woodworking with my articles in, so I donated them to the Surgery. Within 10 minutes of them being put on the table, a patient walked into her room with two of them under his arm. When I heard about it I didn't know whether to be flattered or annoyed.

"There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is generally adopted." ~ Arthur Schopenhauer

That’s my favourite quote and in today’s climate I think it’s particularly pertinent.

Oh yes definitely a compliment.
This one from Dirty Harry is one that fits SO often.
