Three cheers for the 'Man Draw' !

Just sold my old Quad 33/303 but realised that I was short of a few 4BA screws to hold it all together - removed about ten years ago when I replaced the output capacitors. My workshop is all metric now. Looked in the box marked 'Misc. Fittings' but no luck.

Then I remembered the 'Man Draw' !! And there they were...

That's something I've got lots of from 12BA upwards - Clockmakers still use them for some reason?

Ah yes - silly me, it will be in the sleeve of the Tubular Bells cassette in the Man Drawer, which will be in the old 1981 college days left hand leather motorcycle glove, which is probably below the box which contains all my old front door keys from many a past homes. I bet my old night club membership card from 1985 is in there too....

I'm going to have a look.

I feel a story coming on.......

Blimey the last time I used a BA thread was when I used to build scratch built model loco's 30 years ago, that was also the time (pre-marriage) when I had surplus cash to spend on HiFi equipment, the trains may be a thing of the past but my old Cambridge pre & power Amps are still going strong in the workshop.

Though they could do with a dust :shock:

I too still have my Quad 33 gear with KT66s for the output, changed my electrostatics for Gale as I lost a lot of my top end frequency hearing (oldphartiness) valve output still better than most modern stuff.
Strange how the new Samsung idiots lantern sound bar is now valve driven,

I've tried sticking some of these posts into Google Translate, but it didn't recognise the language. I think it's the odd insertion of the occasional word in English which is fooling the programme. I know it's not Welsh: too many vowels.

My EAR Yoshino (which is single ended) uses quite large PL519's used in TVs.

Thermionic Valves - used in Analogue HIFi systems.

I bought a job lot of NOS valves a few years ago and then a valve tester to certify them.
Most were "worthless" radio and TV ones but there were a few gems including some KT66's - they fetched a very reasonable price [emoji4].
Looking today, some GEC ones are going for £325 a pair!
