Well one thing I like is tool storage as there’s so many variations about and some very fine examples out there indeed I’ve started working out of a large vintage chest I picked up a while ago now.

It’s the history of them I always find interesting and just the different Types you see over the years I even made a Dutch style chest but thought it’d be good for this chairty auction that’s happening some time this year that Richard Arnold is putting on but don’t know dates or details so mabie not.

Even made a copy of the one my grandfarther made as an aprentice.

I think the auction is likely to be completed the day before the live gathering. This frees up those involved so they're not running a live and a virtual event simultaneously. It also means anyone lucky enough to be able to attend in person can collect purchases from the auction.

You might like this version, I originally had a full height suitcase style box with two drawers. They were the most favoured type in this area. Selling the push bike and buying my first car brought problems, the only way to carry the suitcase was to stand it upright on the back seat or lie it down in the boot.
Neither method seemed satisfactory, it was hard on the back muscles or scrambled all the tools.
This design was my answer, it’s worked well for me and has been copied by a few others.
The two boxes can stand upright in the boot and the tools are accessible if only an odd item is required.

I must say I have a real soft spot for the old boxes but taking them places the sheer size and weight is too much my helper couldn’t lift mine so wasn’t much use lol still have it tho very cool thing to have I remember my
Old bosses one which is what I copied although my sides are poplar but now I have some ash like his which would’ve been ace but I think the polar was lighter either way without tools
It’s still heavy and full it’s a back breaker lol I like my one with wheels on lol although organisational expects it’s rubbish but ok for power tools and hand tools go in one of those veto bags I think it’s the xx f version they cost a lot but tough as

Will you be going I don’t know anyone at these things I know a couple at the Stanley days and the staff a bit but find them hard work generally.
I did have somthing for that auction but I can’t get a response from
Richard for some
Reason so given up now. Still after my little project of filling my grandfarthers tool box back to how it was when he was off in the 50s building mills. I found a photo of one he finished. Well inside bit and the area outside was lucky for me he was into photography was even a huge amount from his time
In Africa sadly his son threw them all away

Very much hope to be there I’ve been to a couple & had an enjoyable time, those were when they were held at Richard’s workshop I guess it will be a different atmosphere with this one being held at a village hall but if it’s a similar crowd it should be a friendly entertaining day.
