• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Nowhere near the level of other projects on here but thought I’d post something to prove I do woodwork! In truth it’s been years since I had space or time to undertake a proper project, recent working with wood had been house related only but now I have a workshop space in the garage I made my daughters birthday present.

Far from perfect but the most important person loved it. Of my own design, going for a mix of very traditional crib and mid century style it is left over pine faced ply from the workroom project. This in hindsight did not make the joints very easy with my skill level with a very soft face veneer. It’s painted with chalk paint and waxed all over. I have recently discovered the Paul Sellers videos on YouTube and some of his tips around marking with a knife and chiselling up to this rally improved my technique. Anyway here it is.

EDIT: sorry forgot about the orientation of pictures on phone again so removed offending images. Will have to take more but crib is in daughter’s bedroom so not tonight!!!

I like that you've done some proper joints to hold that together.

Just a little concerned, though, about its stability. If your daughter stood up and leant against one side of it, bouncing up and down as they do, would this stay upright? Even if it does, imagine her twice the size......

Mike you’re right it could tip. Bit of additional information though, my daughter is 8 and her younger sister who’ll certainly play with it is 6, you may have thought they were younger. My wife makes Waldorf dolls and we take a lot of influences from Steiner education system hence why they are playing with dolls and getting a toy crib when her friends are getting iPads! Also it means we are not concerned about an elect of risk if she leans and pulls it over she’ll learn from it.
