• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

About five years ago I was in need of a good industrial type compressor for my garage. A friend had what I needed and he needed a coffee table. Requirements that it be heavily stressed. Since his kids, dogs and cats would cause damage. Which they did. We scrounged a room in his basement and found some lumber milled about 80 years ago. Fir I think. 1000002191.jpg1000002176.jpg1000002177.jpg1000002179.jpg

I like that. A solid simple piece of furniture showing it's joints.

I had one of those trade-offs many years ago. A neighbour wanted a front door, and I wanted a concrete mixer. I hope the door has lasted as well as the mixer!

I take it you are still using the mixer. I was given a mixer , used it once on a job and when done with it put it on the road with a for free sign. Guy in pickup truck pulled up and said really! It was an old beat up unit. He only needed it for one job, so I said play it forward to someone who needs it.

With left over materials I built a sturdy narrow bench maybe a month later.
Mortise and tenon joinery for the legs and top, with a bit of tarting up below.
Took a ball peen hammer to the end grain for texturing, wanted to try something different.
