• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I managed 5 mins in the workshop and after 3 hours...

More of a test and familiarisation exercise on the use of the Kapex than a serious project. I initially tried using stop blocks to cut to length but this was not accurate enough for some reason so I taped the pieces together and cut them all at the same time. No fettling required joints are as tight as a gnats rear end.
I have used surface splines before on a square trivet years ago so did the same here. Lignum vitae used for the splines. Scrap pine for the rest.
No finish it will go straight in the kitchen.

When I get time a will make a nesting set of 3.

Did you cut the grooves for the splines on the Kapex with the trenching feature ?
My Kapex is going on 10 years old now & I don’t regret spending the money on it it really is a quality piece of kit, though I will admit the intervening years have seen a rapid descent down a slippery green slope :o :lol: thankfully I think I’m at the bottom now :?

yes Doug and all done with the supplied blade. Ideally a flat top ground blade would have been better to cut the grooves but it hardly shows.
The Kapex is probably overkill for my needs but as I don't drink nor smoke nor play golf.... I am sure one could buy half a dozen Kapexes for the cost of one years gold club membership.
