• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Walnut and Mahogany Vase

Plus beech, ash, oak?

I'd say you've probably cracked that segmented turning thing...... :eusa-clap: :eusa-clap:

:eusa-clap: Very nice. The sort of thing that cries out for a WIP.

Are you pleased with it? Looks great from here.

Thanks. :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Just European Walnut and something that may or may not be Mahogany. As the Walnut only has a small part of the board that is dark brown (100 - 150mm in a 400mm wide board) I use the lighter part as a contrasting wood.

I'm very pleased with it. This is attempt number 4, the others were OK but there was a learning process and mistakes were made. I didn't take any pictures because there are loads of utube videos detailing the process and I'd have to tidy up my workbench first! The next piece was going to be a segmented Greek Urn with a Greek key pattern on it but once I'd milled the wood I realised it wasn't actually possible to make. :eusa-think: Unless anyone knows better.

That looks very good! :eusa-clap:

(if I recall correctly the word "urn" had bad connotations on some other forum.)
