Walnut Jewellery Box

Walnut (I think European) Jewellery Box with book matched American Black Walnut Burr Veneer and Sycamore inlay lid.

Smart Hinge and Smart Lock (from Andrew Crawford) lined with pig suede.

Finished with Antique Amber Peacock Oil and several coats of Hard Wax.

If I could reply to that query on the OP's behalf...I'm not sure how Robert would have gone about it, but it's a fairly simple process. 'Custard' of this parish posted a rather good how to 'somewhere else' and I believe it's also somewhere on WH2, but I've been unable to locate it.

In any event, it's not a difficult process provided the correct steps are followed. Apologies for the highjack - Rob

I do it as explained in Custard's post which is the method Andrew Crawford teaches on his course. The only difference is that I use this on one side of the card:



This becomes the "show face"



and then I use DS tape on the folded over side which will be glued to the box side



Before gluing the above in place I will add another piece of DS tape and some offcuts of suede so it's flat when in place. This just means the good suede goes further.

The trick is to use a really sharp scalpel for all the cuts - once it starts to drag change the blade.

It's quite a therapeutic process - the only bit I don't like is the smell of Copydex glue!

Thanks - yes, it is called adhesive transfer sheet.
