Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I'm going to fight for the dark side here, I actually prefer websites to be formatted in the 'A4' style vs widescreen. Fully appreciate the wasted desktop space but I find it much easier to read and digest forum posts and websites when they are formatted like a book with shorter lines and paragraphs rather than the way say UKW is formatted to full widescreen meaning potentially shorter individual posts but one long sentence to read.
Personal preference but I will spend more time on a clean looking simple website than one crammed with too much in the way of visuals.
I also find it odd that you find this so offensive when our own forum 'theme' that we chose to replicate does exactly the same!! On my screen right now I am typing this with the forum down the central 3rd of the screen with 1/3 of completely blank screen space either side of it…

It's not the layout...after all, books are formatted with that aspect ratio - as are A4 letters.
No, it's the amount of information provided on a page. It's fine for Janet and John Book 1-3 but when you go up to join the Middle school next year, you'll find it a bit more tricky

I see the infant web designers at Apple have taken this stupidity to a whole new level. I have a 21" iMac screen. Their website design for two-year olds contains less than 2% of any meaningful information. The rest is ******* WHITE.
although I wholeheartedly agree with you Roger I think you are swimming against the tide with this. Even when the window narrowed to A4ish width to reduce the white space down the sides of the page the amount of scrolling required is tiresome.
It's a generational thing Roger. Go and lie down and remember all those things your father and grandfather could never quite understand about the younger generations in their time.

No that doesn't help. All it does is zoom in or zoom out into more or less white space. Zooming in is about as bad as it can get as the font size - already excessively large - is even larger. Great if I want to read my Mac from the other side of the room.
