Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. Good candidates for trying an electrolysis bath! Then hammer with WD40 and they'll come up alright I reckon.

You could clean them up using a number of methods, then use them. Or build a display box and hang them on the wall. Or clean first and display second. With that much rust the screw on the clamp may be shot even if you get it apart.
Neat looking as is, though. Did somebody dig them out of the ground?

Oops, sorry about that. Want me to edit and go on about pre-soaking your "rusty" tools in hydrochloric acid for a couple of hours before using the wet/dry and honing them on a warped old oil stone (or three) to gleaming perfection? When I first opened a scruffy looking box packed with straw I did have to look twice. At first glance they did look like they had just been dug up with the cocoa powder in the box looking for all the world like rust dust.

Took a bit out of the pincers last night. I was expecting cheap milk, sticks to your teeth, chocolate but actually the cocoa content must be quite high. Not bad.
