• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

What size and type of screwdriver/spanner do I need

Just had a further rummage on net. It's a torx 12 point. You would have to but German, wouldn't you! :)

12-Point sockets
  • Design: A socket with 12 points, also known as a double-hexagon.
  • Purpose: Designed for 12-point external fasteners, which have a double-hexagon shape.
  • Where they're used: Commonly used in automotive maintenance, particularly on German cars like Audis and Volkswagens.
  • Tooling: A 12-point socket is a specialized socket that fits a 12-point bolt.

Triple-square (XZN) bits
  • Design: A bit that has 12 points with 90-degree internal angles, formed by overlaying three squares.
  • Purpose: Used with the triple-square (XZN) drive.
    • Where they're used: Found in many automotive applications, especially on German cars.
    • Tooling: A bit that fits into a triple-square fastener.

I wonder if a more common 6-point Torx bit might fit.

It's not ideal, and probably couldn’t be torqued-up to the right setting, but might get you out of a hole until you can find a friendly garage with the correct Torx bit (and matching torque-driver).

Real torxture getting that typed correctly...

Thanks Malc and EV I had a quick search before, in a panic, I had to rush out. Bloody door won't shut properly without extra persuasion from the outside. Now it's shut I won't open it again until I know I can tighten the two loose bolts.
I try and buy the right bit, if available.
