• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Evening All. 8-)

When I watch historical dramas, I normally go in search of original photos on the ipad to get a better flavour for the drama - a sort of connection. I found the following photo sometime ago when I was watching......... ah, I can't tell you that bit.

Any ideas on who this is?

Oh dam it - Photobucket are on maintenance mode. I'll post it up shortly.

Meanwhile, for the management's eyes... I was also going to start a new thread with original photos about an American historic event which happened during the 1930's. I haven't yet because I thought I'd check the rules first as there are some graphic photos and I see photos of an 'offensive' nature are forbidden. I wouldn't say the photos in my proposed thread are offensive, but some of the images could be disturbing to some folk. They're not of a sexual nature or anything like that, but some of the pictures are quite graphic and powerful.

Shall I just do it and if it's not suitable, you can delete it?

One good test of your photos is see would parents of young kids looking over their shoulders be affected?

Cheers Bob. Yes, I've thought of that and in all honesty, I think today's youngsters see far more graphic and explicit images on computers and the games they play. The images I've put together for the educational thread I'm proposing is factual and a very famous part of American history. The images are not that bad really, I just thought it polite to ask one of you lovely management chaps beforehand.

Well of the mod Team, Mark is the youngest and possibly quite closely in touch with youngsters both his on and the various football groups he coaches.

When photobucket have finished playing maybe drop a copy to Mark for a quick heads up. He's da Boss!!

I did wonder if it was the technique of the picture -Daguerreotype - rather than the subject you might be on about?
Apparently it was the first photographic process to be used commercially lasting for a decade or so.

Nothing chap - these are two separate historic event.

I've now had the green light from 'Da Management', so I'll create this thread later. It's nothing new or what we don't already know about, it's just stuff most of us probably haven't seen before, which makes this particular event more real - although it happened over 80 years ago. 8-)
