• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Windoze 10

I have, the main problem was with the dual screens I have, they are both the same running on the vga and digital ports of Radeon HD 6570. After the upgrade, only the digital port one was configured, I had to set up the other one again. When the major update was applied it did a similar thing again, but having solved it before it was quicker to sort out this time.
As with all new versions of windows they have moved things about so finding some stuff is not as straight forward if you are used to the layout/short cuts to things in older versions of windows.
 
Not much help as I have not migrated just bought a laptop for my daughter and went straight to windows 10.

No problems so far now that we have removed all the unnecessary bloatware that seems to be supplied. Also ditched the new Windose browser and installed Firefox. Also ditched the mail app and installed Mozilla Thunderbird.
 
I upgraded from 7 a while back and apart from one issue, which I sorted, everything is working OK.
All my existing software worked which was a great relief.

The issue with mine was it would not recognise the DVD drive.
The problem is well documented on the web with plenty of instructions and downloads - you have to amend the Registry with a bit of coding.
It's an easy fix.

I've got an I7 desktop tower with SSD fitted so only got the confirmation that I could upgrade to win10 from 8.1 a few months ago. I was one of the few that actually liked win8.1 compared to win7 (we still use win7 at work) but I've been very impressed with win10 - like others, I use firefox or chrome as my browser and thunderbird for email. I also worked out how to hide the cortana bar (apparently it relies on Bing, so not as good as google voice search) The search button on the start page is also very good - I no longer look for a program icon, just start typing it (e.g. 'control' will list teh control panel and other options). the i7 is fast, but win10 appears to be quicker in real day tasks than win8.1

I find the start menu options/tiles not much use so have installed classic shell so I can toggle back to the win7 start layout when I want. http://www.classicshell.net/

I've had no compatability issues and the upgrade worked well - but (from memory) make sure you know your microsoft account details you used to login on your win 8 (and maybe win 7?) instance as you need it.

Well let me chuck in my 2 c worth. I'm still running Win 7 as it works very well for me. (I am a bit of a late adopter, I believe in the motto "if it ain't broke, don't fix it), so if you're running Win 7 I would just stay there, however from what I have heard Win 10 is much better than Win 8 and Win 8.1 (which is quite a bit better than Win 8). There are a couple of nice new features in Win 10 regarding multiple monitor display (amongst other things), but for me it hasn't been worth the upgrade.

If you're using the upgrade option it apparently works very well with little issues reported, so not too much risk there.
 
"Worth" if that is meant in the monetary sense - the upgrade is free at the moment, so apart from some time involved it is doesn't "cost"to upgrade.

Yes Rob, quite correct on the fact that upgrade is free, I was referring to the pain in the backside and risk involved when doing major changes to an OS though :)
