• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Completed this morning; a pair of wine tables in Elm with solid burr Elm tops:

Constructed using dominos and finished with six coats of Peacock Oil which was left for a week in a very warm workshop to cure, then finished with a good application of Alfie Shine, again left for three days to harden off before final polishing. The tops were finished with six or seven coats of Polivine Acrylic Wax, cut back between each coat with 2000g silicon carbide paper, then finally burnished with 3 micron polishing film from Workshop Heaven - Rob

Ok, now I know what wine tables are. Was embarrassed to ask :-)

O K I confess I rather like wine tables, there is something pretty about all versions.
These three are in european oak with two having American black walnut columns.
Mike.

Beautiful job Rob. Do you have an inexhaustible supply of burr? Those are 2 very special pieces.

Thanks chaps.

I had one very good 30mm board which I'd had for several years in the 'shop so it was bone dry; I don't think it's going to move any time soon. Part of it had been converted into veneers for a cabinet and there was just enough left to get out a couple of table tops. Even so, from the scrag end of what was left I managed to find enough for a 180mm dia platter which is now under the lathe as a future turning project.

Gorgeous Rob. How many other projects can you squeeze into one photo. :)

Useful to show the tables in context there Andy. The bookcase earlier on yesterday had the glass doors fitted (very little change from £150 ) which you might be able to see and the small elm cabinet on a stand was made around ten years ago - Rob
