• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

So Pam’s son and family are moving out of their New York apartment and we were there to fix a couple of niggles before putting it on the market.
This problem was at the top of a spiral staircase where the floor just didn’t meet up with the landing floor, between an eighth and a quarter of an inch gap and a seriously warped board sticking up just where your foot would catch it.
No before pics sorry, the warped board was dealt with by cutting with the grain a couple of times with a handsaw to relieve the stress and the screwing it down flat from underneath.
Before starting work l just had a little nap after the drive ( a small one honestly ) and it occurred to me in my semi consciousness that I could use the sawdust from the stress relief mixed with wood glue and - inspiration- Ground Coffee to fill the gap at the top of the stairs, well after a quick trial I changed it to coffeee grounds mixed with Its Not Nails, worked SO well! I was really chuffed with myself.

I say, Waiter, this coffee tastes like mud!

Yes, Sir. It was only ground an hour ago.

Sorry, serious for a moment. When the children were little and at school I used tea and coffee to stain paper to look like old parchment for their school projects.

I drink loads of coffee. :) Must stick some of the used grounds in a jar. Though if I neededsome it's always another excuse to brew some up.

Penmakers have been using coffee grounds and CA glue to fill cracks and holes for a long time. Pack the defect with coffee and dribble some thin CA onto the grounds. Keep adding more until filled. I've used other spices, mustard, chilli, paprika, etc, when I want a better colour match. For the amount of gaps you need to fill CA wouldn't be the best method. Maybe epoxy and the grounds to make a paste.

You've really been raiding the pantry! But for this floor job the not nails (white) worked a treat, I suppose it is a glue after all.

The coffee worked really well!

Sorry about the image quality( amazon tablet) but I used tea bags to stain a new floorboard to match the 1947 originals.
Some polyurethane varnish and I cant remember which one it was
