• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Fish Dishes?

Holidaying in the Cotswolds a few weeks ago we had a day out in Cardiff. First time we’d been there, and we were impressed. Saw the fish stall in the market and the produce looked excellent. I researched parking before our trip and it did look very limited and very expensive - apart from the J...

    Photo mounts

For some time I’ve been thinking of ways to display my photo prints cheaply and easily. I’ve made the odd picture frame with mat, glass etc but to be honest I find it a faff, it’s not cheap, and I’m not very good at it. I got this idea from YouTube. MDF, 12 or 18mm, edged with Hafele tape...

Thanks Sam. Like me, I remember you getting battered by Arwen. Hope you’re all repaired by now.

    Feeling guilty

I’m afraid I’m one of those people that takes up a hobby or interest and then moves on to something else. I’ve always been a keen photographer (reflected in my profile picture) and also go out walking and birdwatching. Perhaps I’d rather be outside than stuck in my tiny ‘workshop’ at the top of...

    Feeling guilty

I did post a photo of a box I made. With a glaring mistake on the dovetail spacing. I’ll dig it out and repost.

    Feeling guilty

I’ve been on this forum for some time now, I tried to see on my profile when I joined but can’t seem to find it. But it’s several years. I also can’t find when I last posted, but it’s a long time ago. I retired 7 years ago and determined that I would spend some time woodworking, and for a time...

    Fixing plaque to wood

I have made a box to commemorate the birth of my second grandson and I need some advice on fixing a plaque to the inside of the lid. As the lid is veneered 6mm ply let into the lid frame I didn’t think I’d be able to use screws to fix it, which is why when I ordered the plaque I did not specify...

    Hello All

I’ve been a member of UKW for a bit ((and very good it is too) but I was directed here by a link to MikeG’s house renovation thread and I have just read all 114 pages of it. I know all the superlatives about Mike have been repeated many times so I won’t take up space adding more. Suffice it to...
