• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

On two recent occasions, I have won two auctions from the same seller and when I've come to pay, I've naturally requested that they combine postage as that has always been the custom.

However, it now appears that the seller can set up, in advance, a refusal of postage combination price reduction and you only find out about this when the auction is over. I've scoured the original listings and found no advance warning of this.

Last nights winnings were two small items, asking £4 postage each and I had factored in when bidding an assumption that postage would be reduced to £4-5 for the two.

Once again Evil Bay are being a bit naughty. Problem is it is still one of the best marketplaces and the b'stards know it!
Grrr!

Postage has no sellers fees I believe so probably too lucrative to discount.

Many sellers do free postage which I'd guess is so you can't leave poor feedback for postage.

no,
ebay charges the sellers fees on post too,
then paypal takes a bit more.

As a seller it's a pain.

I always offer combined if I can though.

Sometimes a single item will be "Large Letter" size,
where 2 single items have to go as a "Small Parcel",
which is more than twice the price to post !

Free postage, obviously has the post price built in, which is fine for 1 off sales,
but makes more than one item less competitive, !

Ebay is hard work these days

if in doubt, contact the seller before buying, and ask if they will combine, and tell them the items you are interested in, so they know if they can or not.

Agreed I'll have to do that next time.
The point of my post was to alert others that a) ebay offer this option to sellers and b) They do not make it clear to prospective bidders - even if you dig down into the postage section.

I wasn't defending your seller at all BTW ..

And learning the ebay 'rules' is pointless, as they change them so often ! lol

I didn't know it was a 'rule' that you can state you don't do combined.
I knew that you could offer combined as an option, to make it easier for buyers.

I hate ebay !

They can make more profit that way, I guess. The seller and eBay.

I've just had a buyer renege on a sale - kept promising cash on collection for a couple of weeks then said very sorry he'd managed to get his own one working so didn't need mine now!
It seems you cannot leave poor feedback to buyers - only take up a claim which is pointless as he's effectively cancelled the order.

I've also had a few inquiries from people abroad but trying to enter Ebays Global Shipping programme is a bit of a lottery.
It's done it on one item but not for others even though I've "ticked the same boxes". I've tried all sorts of combinations on preview but they don't trigger it?
