• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

This is Jennys favourite photo of her father when in service in Africa, WW2. She has asked me to make a frame for it as the original is insipid. Her description not mine.4554.jpg

Plan on using some darker wood as either splines or for pegs for mortice and tenons.
Don't know what wood this is, Im sure someone here does.4558.jpg4556.jpg4557.jpg

Looks like American Black Walnut...could be wrong though. When you assemble the pic into the frame I suggest you use UV/ anti-reflective glass which will cancel out all reflections when you stand directly in front of it. A piece as shown in the pic above would be roughly £20ish in the UK which is expensive, but for a favourite photo of her dad it's well worth the outlay....and you'll collect extra brownie points.

There should be a fraction more paper/ mount at the bottom compared to the top; gives visual 'weight' as shown in a couple of Win Pooh pics done a while back, so the image should be slightly above the centre point:

I'd advise using some proper über sticky brown tape (available from Bezos) to keep the 'thunderbugs' out and polypropelyne picture cord;

...not the twisted, brass plated steel stuff. Glass use here is Artglass AR70 but similar stuff could be obtained in Canadia - Rob

Thanks, now to get the special glass would be a two hour return trip. Better start calling the picture framing companies.

You'll probably find that picture framing shops etc may stock this type of glass. I've tried glazing firms here in the UK and have just received a blank stare when I made the enquiry - Rob
