There are a couple of programs I still need my Windows laptop for. Today I fired it up- and was told that the dreaded April Update (yes... April!) was waiting to install. There's been lots of bad press about this so I pressed the button with some trepidation.
After 15 minutes of being stuck at 32% of install I left it and went and mowed the lawn. Forty-five minutes later came back in and found it had gone to sleep.
Fired it up and: "You need to restart your computer". (Thinks to self... "Why the feck didn't you restart yourself you stupid OS - you have permission to..."
Fifteen minutes and one more restart later, I'm in. Go to "Windows Updates" to check status and it says I need to restart the computer AGAIN. That's four restarts in all.
And then... finally I'm in and able to do something productive (a bit of photo editing).
FFS!!! How much downtime do businesses lose to these updates?
STILL LOVING MY (always ready, always updated, built in virus protected, battery lasts forever, one third of the price of the laptop) CHROMEBOOK!!
