• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    The Anarchists Stool?

oh wow, from green! Is there a wip for your scorp somewhere? Although I'm not skilled with drawknives and I figure they might be the first thing to learn? I'm v familiar with an angle grinder if I get desperate!

How did you sculpt the seat? It's pretty!

    The Anarchists Stool?

It's not stupid if it works! Yeah, that sort of direction, something pretty low key and easy to touch up. I'm sure I'll repaint to match my new shop, whenever that happens

    The Anarchists Stool?

Yes - next time I'll work harder on tenon alignment - it does fall down in this area aesthetically, but it's only a shop stool! But I did think that this picture showed the tenon I nailed - have I got it 90 degrees out?! I'm now looking at it and thinking I might wanna get some steaming cloths...

    The Anarchists Stool?

I can't recommend making one enough, it was a real test of skill and patience making the tooling to get the job done. Paint - because there are a couple of knots I'd like to loose - and because I'll like the contast! The sapele I think will get Libron finishing oil (tung oil + god knows...

    The Anarchists Stool?

Hey everyone, it's been a while, a few countries, a few shops, but I made a thing. It's not quite finished - can't decide what colour to paint the legs and tenons need trimming. These pics are all from final assembly - it's just gone crack with the pic of me in it - and I had to remake the...

    Joiner near Hertfordshire?

I want to make some window/door/Velux type things for my boat. I have no idea where to start beyond the lumps of brown hardwood (perhaps sapele) lying forlornly in my workshop. Is there anyone near Hemel Hempstead on here that I could pop in and have a chat with? I know what I want them to...

    Bedec MSP

Following Mike's suggestion I have bought this paint and applied it to some drawer boxes... The material is marine ply, possibly iroko based, I'm not one for wearing gloves when using machines but it was needs musts at times. I sanded at 120 grit. As per instructions, I thinned by about 25%...

    Bandsaws

I am in the process of loving into a workshop...complete with bench....and lights....and 3 phase! I have access to an enormous panel saw that is frequently used for chopping fire wood (!) and a dewalt lunchbox thingy...I'm not sure whether it is a p/t or just a thicknesser. I have been given a...

    Shhhhharpening

I inherited some chisels. They are basically in good nick save for the fact that they have been poorly stored and were missing large chunks of edge. The grinders at work have wonky wheels from metal bashing heathens sharpening welding rods as scribes. I have never been caught committing such...

A Sellers bench, help please, then WIP!

So, having come back to my folks, been for a hospital appointment, replaced the built in fridge, changed a light fitting, moved their bed, cut through the floorboards, changed the driver and returned full lighting to the kitchen, I'm being allowed to use their space to create my bench! Time is...

    Returning

I'm back and will tonight or tomorrow be taking delivery of 24 pieces of 2x4 redwood. I have got to a stage with the boat that requires a decent bench to progress things at a sensible speed. I now also possess a decent camera. My darling mother has offered me the dining room/sitting room...
