• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Clamps

While working on the Farm Boy engine, I needed some clamps, so off I went onto a side mission to make some. These are Kant twist clamps. I do have G clamps, sash clamps and all sorts between but not suitable for my needs. Well this is as far as I am at the moment, main frames made and 8 spacers...

    Log Storage

Took a break from the Farm boy engine. Back playing with wood for a couple of days. No, not logs for turning but rather for a log burner as a Christmas present for one of the family. Finished with oil still wet in the photo.

    Scrapyard Find

My stepson works in a scrapyard and found this Mamod engine which needs some TLC. It needs a new chimney and certainly a good clean up, there are a couple of repairs that need doing but nothing major. The above faults are only those that are obvious, but it needs a good inspection, which may or...

    Vice stop

Been meaning to make a small vice stop for those odd jobs to save some of the set up time. I used some offcuts of ali from the rounds I cut up for the Farm Boy I am making. I had a spare day as waiting for some material for the farm boy so knocked up this little stop to clamp to the vice.

    Signing off

Well to be exact sign finished. Was asked to make a house sign for the wife's friend. Nothing special when it comes to woodworking but as can be seen I will not make a sign writer by any means, but she was over the moon with it. Now her postmen know what house the letters should go to.

    Bowl from unknown wood

Managed to complete this bowl which has been laying around for goodness how long. Not sure of the wood but it is local from the Kent area in the UK. It measures 10 1/2" diameter and 5" tall, it was a little soft in places hence the thickness I turned it too, which I think suits it.

    For the CNC nerds

A little boy goes to his father and asks, “Daddy, how was I born?” The father answers, “Well, son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway! Your mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked...

    Bird Houses

I have been so busy with the garden getting it ready for the summer, now that most of the seedlings are taking hold ready for planting out next month as the weather is getting quite warm. I mentioned in my other post about a Farm Boy hit and miss engine so I thought I would start a thread just for that otherwise it may get lost in the Rob Roy build. How this build came about was I managed to get hold of some metal for a very silly price that no one would refuse. The brass and...

We have just got a new great grandson and I thought a little bowl was ideal way as a gift. So came up with this bowl with his name and date of birth on it. It has three little feet for a change. It is about 7" diameter as I did not get chance to measure it, I also had to get the Grandson to...
