Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Well that sounds good, glad you got the video done, makes all that effort worth while.

Nice video and nice outcome.
It would be interesting to hear it properly mic'ed up rather than the very limited range of a laptop. Currently it sounds as if it (sound sustain) is decaying very fast so that is either the mic, the guitar hasn't opened up yet, or the bracing might me a bit heavy duty (typical Martin pattern). 12 strings are always difficult to judge in my experience as the octave and unison tuning is difficult to record so they almost always sound better in real life. It will open up I expect with time and playing.
What tuning method has been used? Unisons for the upper two pairs and octaves for the lower four pairs? Hard to tell from the recording.
Would be good to get him to put a proper microphone on it or even a stand alone digital recorder such as a zoom or whatever if he has one. Would be interested to hear that.

I'll answer each separately presently, but I can add that his pro recording equipment is stuck in Spain. He would have had to drive back through France last month, which might have been tricky, so he flew back minus the good kit. But he will make me another video when he can get back to Spain and bring the pro kit back.
With Adrian on this I'm afraid Malcolm. It sounds sharp and thin which is most likely due to the carp microphone clipping a fairly large chunk from the upoer and lower frequencies.
Theres a lot going on with a 12 and they can be a bugger to record as already mentioned (seem to recall something about harmonic cancellation with digital recordings), perhaps a cheap condenser would be enough.
If I concentrate i can here the potential and reckon it sounds soooooooo much better on person. Congrats on a reaaly nice build.

If you haven't got anything constructive to say about the guitar's sound, not the recording quality, then it's not helpful repeating what I already know and have explained.
If you want to record him, then come down to Devon with your stuff and I'll set it up.

Frankly Malc I think you are being over sensitive. Please read my post again. Including the praise.
If all you want is praise when you post things on the internet (or links on you tube) then maybe the public internet is not for you.
Perhaps the guitar sounds wonderful, but if so the recording that you posted a link to so that we could hear it presumably, does not make it sound good to my ear. I say this as a lifelong guitarist and all such things are subjective. A musical instrument is just a tool in the end, the function being to produce pleasing sound. In this case there is little sustain evident on the recording, and the fact that the bass and treble are cut off makes it sound thin and also a bit sibilant. There was a reason why I asked about the tuning system but that has evidently passed you by. I've made a few guitars in my time and some of the early ones were not marvellous

My musical ears are about as good as my woodworking hands but it sounds great to me.
